I am an acupuncturist, herbalist, classical homeopath, and massage therapist with a wide-ranging and deep education in natural medicine and holistic health.
Since early childhood, I had both immense curiosity about how the world works and an aptitude for the natural sciences. By the time I was pursuing an education in biology, I also had a growing interest in traditional healing practices, but it wasn’t until an unexpected health crisis later changed my life that I was inspired to choose a new path in holistic medicine. Now, adept in both the biological sciences and traditional medicines, I am dedicated to integrating knowledge that helps people heal from within.
My interest in natural health began while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from The University of Kansas. Outside of required school studies, I became interested in holistic science, systems theory, traditional healing practices, and a growing curiosity about our place among nature as human beings. In the years following, I became passionate about permaculture and natural living; started a natural home cleaning business; showed ceramic sculptures in art shows in Lawrence, Kansas; and became a life coach and workshop facilitator through my business “Empathic Presence.”
At the height of my life coaching practice, I suddenly experienced a complex and confusing health crisis. My inner wisdom guided me to apply the same values and principles to my own body that I had learned about nurturing any complex living system (whether an ecosystem or an individual) back to health.
Several local practitioners provided bodywork, acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, and more, while I lived close to nature helping out on a small organic family farm. Both the down-to-earth lifestyle and support I received nurtured me to a state of health that was greater than I ever expected. As those around me asked what I was doing to become so vibrant, I quickly became inspired to go back to school. I wanted learn more about natural medicine to better understand what I had experienced and to help others, and I have been fascinated with the human body’s innate capacity for self-healing ever since.
I went on to study naturopathic, Ayurvedic, and Chinese medicines; homeopathy; massage and various bodywork techniques; and more at renowned natural medicine schools in the Pacific Northwest, including Bastyr University and National University of Natural Medicine. While I soaked up as much knowledge as possible, I completed massage therapy certification through Bellevue Massage School near Seattle, Washington and completed the New England School of Homeopathy program in classical homeopathy.
After studying at several schools of Chinese medicine, I graduated with a Master of Acupuncture with Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization degree from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas in April 2024. I am a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed in both Kansas and Texas.
I will always continue to deepen my knowledge and skills to support others to experience true healing from within. I believe that the life force within each of us is a unique gift both to ourselves and others. If we can receive the support we need to thrive, our lives can be full of meaning, with free expression of who we were truly meant to be — and that makes the whole world a better place.
My husband and I live in Austin, Texas with our adorable and lively poodle. We enjoy spending time in nature, cooking homemade meals, engaging in creative projects, having game nights with friends, and supporting each other to grow and thrive in our own personal goals.
